Client: Hipcamp
Project: Visual Identity Development
Category: Branding
Use Case: Web/Mobile and Print
From 2021 to current, Trevor has worked alongside the company’s CD to enhance the user’s outdoor exploration and booking experience. In reimagining Hipcamp’s current branding and UI systems, he introduced approachable, nature-oriented illustration systems to build on the current experience. As a result, he has developed a consistent visual identity unique to Hipcamp. Over the year’s his projects have included but are not limited to:
-
Reimagining and developing a comprehensive icon system complete with 200+ icons, drawing inspiration from the National Parks Service cartographic icon system.
- Designing 100+ expanded / larger style icons to highlight land features
- Hipcamp General Store brand-centered merch — signage, apparel, accessories, stickers
- Apparel designs for brand partners — REI, Field Mag
- Logo development
- Illustrations for site-wide use, hero image banners, and email campaigns
Alongside Hipcamp’s CD, Trevor has developed a visual hierarchy / design system consisting of 3 tiers, increasing in order of size and complexity: ① Small UI and Signage “Icons” ② 1-2 Color “Highlights” Land Features ③ Multi-Color “Scenes” for Campaigns and Email Templates (see below for more details).
1. Small format ui icons
Trevor developed an icon system of 200+ icons utilizing a bold, hand-drawn line style to compliment Hipcamp’s nature-focused ethos and create a consistent, natural look across the brand.
1A. Campsite Features / Map Filters UI Application
1B. Web and Social Application
With application of the icons across multiple channels it allows users to become fluid and more familiar with the iconography system within different contexts.
